We are excited to be accepting Expressions of Interest for an ‘Indigenous Youth Art Showcase’ (NAME TBD)

The Show will be set up in a prime location in our space at the Cowichan Bay Maritime Centre and run from September 19th - October 12th for viewing with a Opening night gala on the evening of the 19th.

During the 3 week run time artists are welcome (and encouraged) to spend time at the Maritime Centre interacting with guests and sharing the stories behind your work and process. feel free to bring materials with you and create while you are here.

Artists will each be allotted a space to set up and curate their work how they see fit. We can provide tables for Jewelry, Weaving, Knitting, etc. to be displayed on as well as easels.

Everyone will be asked to set up before Friday the 19th and take down by Saturday October 18th. We will also ask for An artist bio and photo to share to promote the show (and you as an artist) for our website, newsletter and social media.

Our hopes is that the showcase will be a multi-media showcase that celebrates a wide variety of cultures, styles and mediums. All self-identified Indigenous Youth (Under age 30) are invited to apply.

We have many retired artists here at the Maritime Centre and recognize the unique challenges that being a young and emerging artist can have and wanted to provide a space and opportunity for young and emerging artists to showcase their art to the community, to network and make connections with other artists, community members and try out having their works on display. This event is part of Culture Days 2025.

Please reach out to Daphne at cwbs@classicboats.org or pop by the centre in person if you have questions.
