CALLING ALL VOLUNTEERS

There is always a lot going on at the Cowichan Bay Maritime Centre. In its role as an interpretive centre for the maritime history of the Cowichan region, the Centre has become a major tourist attraction. Volunteers are an integral part of its operations. They are essential to support the numerous activities and special events throughout the year.

The Centre needs your help:

  • Do you enjoy meeting and chatting with people?

  • Are you the ’hands-on’ type?

  • Perhaps you would like to put your skills toward maintaining the Centre’s boats or other needed work around the Centre?

  • What about assisting with special events? Every year the Cowichan Bay Maritime Centre is host to an annual boat and maritime festival that requires some 30-40 volunteers. There are opportunities to be part of the festival planning committee as well as working on specific aspects of the festival.

  • Maybe you have an extensive knowledge of the history of this area and would make a fascinating tour guide for school groups and other groups visiting the Centre.

  • There is also room for exercising your creative muscles by refurbishing displays and creating new exhibits. Volunteers are needed to sell raffle tickets for the Annual Boat Raffle at various Boat Festivals and fairs in the area.

  • Perhaps you are interested in serving on the Board of Directors or as a member of a Committee. You likely have some great ideas as well - things that will improve the Centre’s ability to demonstrate our maritime heritage.  We would love to hear about them.

This is your Maritime Centre and we need your help. Give us a call today or fill out the form below.
